6pm successfully deploy Electronic Document Management to NHS Haringey.  With integration to RiO and Spine single sign on, the solution securely stores and manages patient related documents and provide document collaboration between Trust users and staff from other organisations in polyclinic settings.

NHS Haringey in London has now deployed the 6pm PCT Electronic Document Management Solution (EDMS) within Adult Services, with Children’s Services to follow. The completed rollout will support 600 users.

The EDMS developed by 6pm in partnership with several Trusts, has been designed specifically for use by Community Providers and converts paper clinical records into electronic images.  All images are securely accessed, managed and archived for future retrieval directly from their Care Record System, RiO and a number of other clinical applications used within the Trust.  The solution provides the Trust with the facility for secure document collaboration between Trusts, polyclinics and external agencies.

Security is fundamental within EDMS due to the sensitive nature of the personal data held within the system. The 6pm solution integrates with Spine Single sign on, in order to authenticate the user and verify their user rights and provides the foundation for the security model, inheriting permissions rights. Over-laying this is a complex matrix of Trust specific security requirements around documents. The Trust can ensure all clinical records are accurate and up to date, with version control and full audit trail capabilities to determine who accessed what, where and when. The solution complies with (BSI) BIP 0008 code of practice on legal admissibility and evidential weight of information stored electronically.

The Solution caters for all Primary Care Trust needs in terms of scanning and EDM requirements through the use of genuine Enterprise-Wide market leading products including Documentum D6.5 and Kofax Capture scanning software. It also provides a solid COTS (Commercial Off The shelf Software) road map going forward to enable a Trust to easily integrate Clinical and Non-Clinical systems in the future.

Nicholas Ib, Head of Performance and Information at NHS Haringey commented:

“After exploring numerous potential solutions for the conversion and management of paper clinical records, we selected the 6pm EDMS on the basis of “best of breed” software components and the robust security measures available.  NHS Haringey views the 6pm EDMS as a key investment in their future IT technology to help meet the efficiency targets set for the Trust within the next 24 months.”

Andrew James, Head of IT at NHS Haringey added:

“This is part of our rollout to create a polysystem IT infrastructure which will support collaboration between different clinical providers.”

Alan West-Robinson, CEO of 6pm plc commented:

“Our solution ensures the right information is available at the right time and in the right place for the Haringey clinicians and will support the Trust’s service transformation initiatives. The complex security schema provided within EMC’s Documentum provides a set of comprehensive and flexible security services which is unrivalled in satisfying the demanding sensitivity requirements associated with patient information.”
